The function of court interpreters and translators is to remove the language barrier to the extent possible for persons who are non- or limited-English speakers and come before the courts, so that such persons’ access to justice is the same as that of similarly situated English speakers for whom no such barrier exists. The degree of trust that is placed in court interpreters and translators, and the magnitude of their responsibility, necessitate highly skilled professionals who fulfill an essential role in the administration of justice.
I am a freelance Licensed Court Interpreter and Legal Translator with more than 10 years of experience providing Spanish translation services for legal professionals and the general public in the Greater Houston Area. A native of Chicago, IL, I lived in Mexico for 27 years, where I became an attorney and practiced law for almost 15 years, before settling in Houston, TX. My areas of specialization are the interpretation of legal proceedings and the translation of legal documents.
